These days, employees don’t clock in with a physical punch clock. They clock in from any computer or device that is connected to the internet. Time tracking in the cloud is for:
- Employees who occasionally work at home or outside the office. They can track their hours accurately and in real-time, rather than writing down some estimate days later.
- Employers. Tracking time in the cloud is useful for monitoring employees and taking care of payroll from anywhere.
Track Location By IP
But does this convenience mean a sacrifice of accuracy and control? If employees can clock in from any device, then couldn’t they clock in from home or from their cars?
We hear these questions a lot. The answer is no!
The system is designed to be flexible. Your employees can be given liberty to clock in from anywhere, or clock in can be restricted by IP address. This means that employees would only be able to clock in from IP addresses that you approve.
You can add as many IP addresses to your list of approved locations as you want, and you can pick and choose which employees get the restrictions.
With the settings in place, employees will be locked out of clocking in and out unless they are using an approved IP.
